The Accountant Lead Specialized is the lead level of advanced accounting work in the areas of cost accounting, systems accounting, federal fund accounting, or bond and loan accounting. This position assigns, reviews, and approves the work of and trains lower-level accountants performing cost accounting, systems accounting, federal fund accounting, or bond and loan accounting duties. Duties include but are not limited to the following: Providing advice and guidance to lower-level accountants in the resolution of complex problems; performing advanced level accounting in the preparation of financial records, reports and statements for use by management; and reviewing and authorizing detailed costs, systems changes, federal fund distributions or bond and loan records for inclusion in the general accounting system.
The current vacancy exists at the Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA) located in Baltimore City, MD in the Division of Finance. The Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA) owns, operates, and maintains eight major toll facilities comprised of four bridges, two tunnels, and two turnpikes, across the state of Maryland. For 50 years, the MDTA has provided Maryland's citizens and visitors with safe, secure, and convenient transportation facilities.

QUALIFICATIONS:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: A bachelor's degree in accounting from an accredited college or university, including or supplemented by three credit hours in auditing.
Experience: Four (4) years of experience examining, analyzing, and interpreting accounting systems, records, and reports by applying generally accepted accounting principles to include two years performing advanced duties in the areas of cost accounting, systems accounting, federal fund accounting, or bond and loan accounting.

1. Candidates may substitute a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with thirty credit hours in accounting and related courses, including or supplemented by three credit hours in auditing for the required education.
2. Applicants who have met the requirements for admission to the CPA examination prior to July 1, 1974 will be considered to have met the educational requirement referenced above.
3. Possession of a certificate as a Certified Public Accountant or a master's degree in accounting from an accredited college or university may be substituted for one year of the required general accounting experience.
4. Applicants may substitute one year of professional auditing experience for one year of the required general accounting experience.
5. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience in the accounting officer classification or financial management specialty codes in the accounting field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
LICENSES & CERTIFICATIONS:
Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties may be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the state of Maryland.
